Fire Protection Districts General Representation

The Firm serves as general counsel to numerous fire protection districts throughout California. The Firm advises them wide matters ranging from technical issues such as reorganizations and consolidations before Local Agency Formations (LAFCOs), to mundane issues including advice on ordinances, payroll, finance, and public records requests. On behalf of its clients, the Firm deals with numerous government agencies ranging from Departments of the State of California to the United States Forest Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Local Government General Representation

The Firm's Governmental clients are advised and represented on a variety of issues and in administrative and litigation proceedings including public finance, administration of claims under the California Tort Claims Act, employment rights, environmental compliance, and real estate development, and in proceedings before LAFCOs, involving changes of organization and reorganization, in addition to formation, administration and dissolution of joint powers authorities.


Land Use and Real Estate Development

The Firm advises and represents developers and owners of residential, commercial and industrial properties in administrative and litigation proceedings in land use matters, which are affected by the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code § 21000 et seq., "CEQA"). The Firm has been involved as lead counsel in several published appellate cases and trial court cases concerning land use and CEQA compliance issues. The Firm also has extensive experience in obtaining land use entitlements from local, environmental, state and federal agencies.

In connection with these matters, the Firm has performed analyses of environmental documentation required under CEQA, including but not limited to, procedural notices, and draft and final environmental impact reports.


Environmental Litigation

The Firm has extensive experience litigating our clients' environmental needs, including but not limited to disputes over CEQA, water quality, air quality, endangered species, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) legal issues.

The Firm represents developers, community groups, municipalities, private corporations, and individuals in resolving their environmental issues.

The Firm collaborates with environmental consultants when required, and always seeks to resolve our clients' disputes quickly without litigation where possible. However our attorneys work with the clients to aggressively litigate their objectives where litigation cannot be avoided.
